REDIGAL, steadied while racing closest to the pace for a quarter, assumed command when ready and was roused slightly when DENAGEE challenged in the final sixteenth. DENAGEE was, slow to settle in best stride, responded willingly to improve position on the turn and rallied well in the final furlong. SOME SWEEP raced evenly. DEARIES GIFT had late speed. ONECBILL, steadied along within striking distance of the early pace, came around horses to gain a forward position on the turn and drew out slightly in the final, sixteenth. EVER ON was a forward factor from the start, wrested the lead from ASK AUNT ADA leaving the quarter pole, but was unable to hold the winner. HOGAN improved his position gradually. FIGAROSE rallied mildly in the final furlong. ASK AUNT ADA came very wide in the stretch and weakened in the final drive. CORK had brief early speed. PATRIOTIC FOX was done early. WHIMSICAL LADY was kept in a contending position from the beginning, saved ground entering the stretch and wore down COUNTRY DUDE in the final seventy yards. EIRE was taken to the outside to engage the leaders entering the stretch and appeared to drift out slightly while tiring in the final sixteenth. LISTEN TIGER, allowed to race on own courage early, came through on the rail to press the pace at the furlong pole and held on well in the drive. ADMIRALS AIDE improved his position gradually. COUNTRY DUDE showed good speed while setting the pace to the furlong pole, then weakened. POLLY J. had brief early speed. Country Dude claimed by M. Newmeyer. Admirals Aide claimed by A. Newmeyer. Start good from stall gate. Won ridden out; second and third driving. ESTERITA was hustled to the front at once, was taken in hand when GOLDEN TOUCH came through on the inside to wrest the lead midway on the turn and remained on the outside to wear down the latter in the final furlong. GOLDEN TOUCH was sent through on the rail to assume command on the turn and saved ground entering the stretch, but was unable to resist the winner in the drive. TACK ROOM responded to urging to gain a contending position entering the ttretch, but was no match for the leaders in the final furlong. MARYKNOLL closed ground in the final quarter. NEDLON was well placed for a half mile, then weakened. LIQUID LUNCH had early speed. BELLE COLE was a sharp factor in the early stretch, then weakened. SIR FRANCIS was in the thick of contention from the. start, moved up to press the pace at the furlong pole and drove between DUTCH RAIDER and PENTIN to outlast rivals in the final seventy yards. PENTIN was steadied early, remained on the rail to engage the leaders in midstretch and closed resolutely. DUTCH RAIDER was steadied behind FALSELY, came around the latter to assume the lead, nearing the quarter pole and weakened slightly in the final strides. FALSELY quit badly in the final eighth. The latter moved up to press the pace at the three-quarters pole, lodged strong challenges on the far turn and in the early stretch, but was not good enough. DRUM MAJOR failed to menace the leaders in the drive. SIGNALS BLOKE was on the inside through the backstretch and had no excuse. DON MILLER was done early. FAIR ANN trailed throughout. AZIMUTH was sent to the front, opened up a clear lead through the backstretch and was roused slightly when-VENCI lodged a bold challenge on the outside nearing the furlong pole. VENCI forced the pace from the start, but was not good enough, despite vigorous handling. STORMY BILL raced evenly. IMPENETRABLE was not hurried when unable to obtain a forward position early, responded to urging to improve position swiftly leaving the backstretch and drove between horses to win in the final jump. REX ROMANUS was slpw to settle in best stride, was taken to the outside to obtain a contending position entering the stretch and just failed to get up on the outside. PURITAN was steadied behind CRATER LAKES pace to the three-eighths pole, then drew out to a wide lead while saving ground entering the stretch, but was unable to withstand the top ones. ORAGE broke slowly and improved position gradually on the turn, but weakened in the final furlong. BAYONET was done early. CRATER LAKE weakened steadily after being displaced.
