Lures Twelve Sprinters, With Coolite Topweight Under 773 FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., May 29. Maj. Ednyfed H. Williams, chairman of the Illinois Racing Board, will be the honored guest of the Fairmount Park Jockey Club for the inaugural program of their 32-day spring meeting which begins here tomorrow and continues on a five-day week schedule, terminating July 12. Post time for the first race is 2:00 p. m., with no racing on Mondays. Racing secretary Henderson Van Zandt has arranged a splendid nine-race program for the Memorial Day sport, featured by the six-furlong Ednyfed H. Williams Handicap, which is named in honor of the noted guest. The ninth race on the program, a one mile and 70 yards claiming event, has been designated as the "Damon Runyon Memorial Fund," with all proceeds from the betting to be presented by Fairmount Park to that worthy cause. Twelve sprinters, three years old and older, are entered for the ,000 endowed Ednyfed H. Williams Handicap, which with benevolent weather will be contested over a track that will probably be good. Racing secretary Van Zandt has given the dubious honor of high weight of 113 pounds to G. M. Jones consistent Coolite, who won several of the better offerings here and at Dade Park last year. The five-year-old son of Sweeping Light has been training at Douglas Park in Louisville, Ky., and at the local oval, but has not been hurried in his conditioning and might not race to his best form tomorrow. Shuckins Doubtful in Seasons Bow Mrs. G. Fittge and Mrs. F. Scotts Shuckins is another Fairmount Park campaigner that has been seen in the better offerings here in past seasons, and although he also has been idle this spring, has been working exceptionally well. Shuckins is scheduled to carry 111 pounds, one less than Doubtful, who likewise will be facing the starter for the first time this season. The J. C. Humes, Jr., and W. Sparrow racer is also reported in fine condition. Jr-C. Ellis Quintero appears the most dangerous contestant, having raced well, although unsuccessfully, in several features at the recent Churchill Downs meeting. J. F. Becks Blue Mountain is another proven runner this spring, having displayed exceptional speed in his recent five-fur- ALFRED E. Blue Mountain has shown increased ability in each of his starts this year, and appears ready to challenge in handicap company. Of the remaining overnight entries, none may be excluded a possibility of victory, as all are capable when in top condition. The fifth race, East St. Louis Purse, serves as an attractive sporting feature, with nine sprinters named for the six-furlong dash. Mrs. G. Fittge and Mrs. F. Scotts Ganado and Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Shipps entry of Leapolino and Tony G., seem to dominate the field, with the closest rivals, on past performances, being J. C. Ellis speedy Blank Dismay and Mrs. H. H. Nortons grey filly, Merita.
