1 Palestinian Works Good ! Mile for jersey Stakes j Timed Distance Over Difficult ] Track at Jamaica in 1:40% BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., j May 25. — Palestinian, Isidore Biebers hope for the Jersey Stakes at Garden State Park 1 this week-end, was given his final trial for that engagement this morning at Jamaica. He turned in one of the better works , recorded at that track in some time. He, working 10 to 15 feet out from the inner rail, sped one mile in 1:40%. The trial was more convincing when track conditions are analyzed. The racing strip was pronounced bad, due to the heavy rains during the night. Jamaica, as a rule absorbs water with a sponge -like capacity but this morning proved the exception. Palestinian was worked alone and he showed a pronounced liking for the footing. He was under snug restraint as he covered the first half mile in :48. Still under restraint, he negotiated the six furlongs in 1:14. The final quarter mile was timed in :26%, with the exercise boy sitting still and exerting strong restraining . pressure. Palestinian will be vanned to Garden State tomorrow for his week-end engagement. Old Rockport and Brave Reward, owned by Clifford E. Mooers, were on the main track at Belmont Park this morning. The Santa Anita Derby winner was called upon for a mile and one furlong trial. The first six furlongs were caught in 1:17 and the mile in 1:44%. He is training for his Belmont Stakes engagement to be decided the final day of this meeting. Conniver, owned by Harry LaMontagne, breezed an easy mile and one furlong in 1:54. She also was in hand in her trial. Training operations, due to the changed track conditions, were on the quiet side during the morning hours.
