Lextown Works Fast Mile WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, HI., May 25. — Lexbrook Stables Lex-town was given his final serious prep for the Peabody Memorial, 5,000 event for three-year-olds at one and one-eighth miles to be run on Mondays holiday card here, when he worked one mile before the first race today. The sophomore son of Littletown — Lady Rosamond had jockey Jack Richard aboard as he went the eight furlongs over a dull strip in 1:38%. He worked the final five furlongs in company with Showdown, a stablemate. Lextown was caught the opening quarter in :24, half in :47%, :59% for five furlongs and six furlongs in 1:12, finishing out the mile in 1:38% in handy fashion. Dave Hum, trainer of the Lexbrook Stable, was aboard Showdown.
