Michigan Notes FAIR GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., May 25. Jack C. Hodgins, trainer for Charles T. Fishers Dixiana, annoijnced that Shy Guy j and Star Reward are to remain here for several more engagements, but the pair may be shipped to New York later in the current season. Shy Guy is a probable starter for the Col. F. M. Alger Memorial Handicap which is to be decided here next Monday, Memorial Day. Walter Wilkerson is an arrival from Churchill Downs with the public stable he conditions for various owners. The shipment from Louisville included Great Doctor, Queen Flash, Seventh Seven, Bill Collector, Aunt Beeba, Par Three, Chicalmo, Chicle Red, Big Dutch, Polly W., and Obelisk. Jockey Hank Manifold returned from Omaha, Neb., where he had the mount on Mrs. Marion Bartons Royal Tulip, a winner at the Ak-Sar-Ben oval on opening day. Manifold accepted the. mount here today on P. L. Grissoms Master Bid in the Michigan Mile. John Zoeller, who is conditioning a division of the Joseph A. Goodwin homebred thoroughbreds here, has enjoyed unusually good success with the Patchen Wilkes Farm horses. Although Papa Redbird and Blue Tail Fly visited the local winners ringi Zoeller also had some ill luck, Donke Serenade and Scarlet Wing, promising juveniles, bucked shins in their initial local engagements. Mark Livingston, acting for D. Hess, sold the four-year-old filly Eireann to Larry Rodriguez at private terms. Rodri- guez recently arrived here from Boston after being hospitalized in the Hub City for several weeks. Johnny Zoeller .shipped Joseph A. Goodwins Four L Clover to Goodwins Patchen Wilkes Farm, and the juvenile miss Pagoda to Col. Phil T. Chinns Old Hickory Farm in Lexington, Ky., and the pair is to be turned out. Kenneth Noe, former rider, checked in from Churchill Downs and registered Rich-wood Boy, Graymar, Fannis, Lady Gator and Chambro. Warner L. Jones, Jr., master of Hermitage Farm, Goshen, Ky., is a Fair Grounds visitor, and he plans to remain for several days sport. James Deaton, Who already has three horses in his care, received another charge, Wise Trick, who is to race here for Owen Freeman of Louisville, Ky. Marion Barton, acting for P. L. Grissom, traded the two-year-old Autan to Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Kidd for the aged gelding Devil Sand. Moody Jolley, who has a large stable quartered at the local course, left for New York on a business trip. Jolley plans to return here the latter part of this week and, during his absence, his brother, Tom Jolley, is looking after the members of the establishment. M. B. Goff, master of Pucketty Farm, Lexington, Ky., is a Fair Grounds visitor and inspected the horses he has quartered here in charge of Fred P. Haldy. Goff plans to remain for the Alger Memorial i Handicap renewal next Monday.
