PRINCE COLE, well placed from the start but forced to ease back while lacking room on the inside of GNU leaving the backstretch, was carried out by that one at the head of the stretch and still was good enough to prevail. GNU set the pace v.hile being nicely handled, but was not gccd enough. CECIL M. raced forwardly but lacked a rally. SUPPER DATE raced forwardly, was sent to the inside for the stretch run. but failed to rally. WAR DAUBER closed full of run. ILLUSTRATION showed nothing. BALLINAKILL broke tardily. KING MOWLEE dueled fcr the lead from the start, attained a commanding lead on the turn and responded to good urging to last over NETHERBY. The latter, slew to settle into stride and forced to race wide, closed with good energy to be wearing down the top one. PIP PIP saved ground, but lacked a closing rally. BENGAL TRAIL raced forwardly placed to the stretch and weakened. HY failed to threaten while rallying mildly. HANDY MAN Was outrun. ONCE ONLY broke badly. BATTLE CRY raced wide throughout. IN A SPIN., unhurried during the early stages, responded to strong urging through the stretch and outgamed the opposition. BULL HYDE responded well from the quarter pole, but could not wear down the top one. CARRY ME BACK drove between horses to engage the leaders, then hung. BIG BULL showed speed and faltered only slightly. GIACHINO. slow to respond, closed with good speed COLUMCILLE. well rated while setting the pace, flattened out in the final test. DEPENDABLE had a rough trip. TURNPIKE, away tardily and rushed into contention on the turn, faltered badly. KALLUKI, much used in an attempt to gain the early lead, quit to a walk. Won driving; second and third the same. • CHANGELING assumed command immediately, disposed of INCA while going easily, drew clear in the early stretch and withstood the rush of STRINGS. The latter was sluggish early, moved boldly in the early stretch, was prevented from doing her best while lugging in badly and was taken up right at the end while almost on the heels of the winner. INCA vied with CHANGELING for the lead, but was no match and weakened. BOOGIE WATCH failed to keep up. GINOWAY was outrun, as was ACE.TJP, .EMMISSION was far ba Jc fr.om soon after the start. The latter improved his position steadily from the outside and fought it out willingly. LITTLE HARP disposed of NEW OXFORD without too much difficulty, drew clear when roused in midstretch, then faltered. WITCH WAY loomed a threat turning into the stretch, but lacked a closing spurt. LORAN closed .veil while apparently a bit rank. NEW OXFORD showed speed for a half mile and may improve. CHORALIER raced well to the stretch and tired. HENRY BUSSE lacked his usual speed. COUNTY DELIGHT sprinted clear of his opposition early while under stout restraint, merely toyed with his rivals while they moved within striking distance along the backstretch and rounding the turn, then drew clear as rider pleased to win with speed in reserve. ON THE MARK, under stout restraint early, was taken up sharply when he ducked to the inside entering the backstretch, reached a threatening position leaving tiie backstretch but was no match.
