Auntie in New England Seasonal Debut Today Meets Bated Breath and Other Sprinters in Lynnfield Purse SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 5. — S. S. Barretts home-bred Auntie makes her seasonal New England debut in the Lynnfield Purse, a six-furlong dash for a purse of ,000 here on Monday. The five-year-old daughter of Time Signal — Aunt Bruce has been training smartly for her bow before the patrons who were very much impressed with her consistent form during 1950. Prior to shipping here from Hot Springs, Ark., Auntie made two appearances under silks and on each occasion turned in her usual good effort. The first time she started this year, Auntie was fourth, tiring, as if in need of the race. Her next start, four days later, found her beaten six lengths in 1:10 while finishing! second. Traveler won that race. Last fall at Rockingham Park, Auntie wound up her 1950 campaign with a skein of four triumphs, which, with a little luck, could have been six in a row. Her two | starts before the winning streak were marred by a nose and head decision while giving weight to such noted speedsters as Dukes Gal and Evening Rose. The veteran Jimmy Stout, who has ridden Auntie on many occasions, is slated to ride in the Lynnfield at 114 pounds. Tamarack Stables Bated Breath, a seasoned daughter of Okapi — Delma Dunn, appears as the chief contender for Auntie to overcome in Mondays feature. Bated Breath was trained in Florida last winter, starting once at Gulfstream Park before shipping north. In that race, the four-year-old miss finished fourth in a fast run dash won by 01 Skipper. Since her arrival, Bated Breath has started twice and on each occasion had to be content with third money. Her opposition was of a high grade and she needs only to repeat those efforts to prove a formidable foe in the Lynnfield. Luchador, Charing Rock, Princely, Power Drunk and Fly Around comprise the rest of the lineup for the feature. Power Drunk is the only member of this group which has won a race this season. In fact, by the same token, he is the only one in Mondays field who has been victorious in 1951. The win was recorded at Hialeah Park during the past winter in an ,000 claiming event.
