GENIES MATE raced on almost equal terms with TECHNICOLOR for about half the distance, then gained a short advantage and went strongly to the end. TECHNICOLOR sprinted to the front early and held on well under hard riding. ARISTOCRAT lost considerable ground in the stretch, but appeared strongest of all at the finish. LITTLE GER0M0 disposed of the tiring WELSH MAN near the end. KITTY KAT lacked speed and was badly outrun. THE FARMER was off poorly, then dashed up in the first eighth, but bore out badly on the backstretch and was taken in hand. VISCOUNT GINO moved up fast after going a quarter to challenge UNCLE ROB successfully nearing the stretch turn and drew out, but had to be shuffled along again near the end to make victory certain. UNCLE ROB disposed of BIMEBELLA early and continued well after being headed. FEARLESS KEN passed weakening horses in the stretch. BIMEBELLA weakened in the last half mile. LIABILITY was sent to the front early and, going in fine form, was never in serious danger of losing the leadership. BEST ARRAY moved up well nearing the far turn, but raced a trifle wide on the turn and was unable to menace the winner. SHATTERED was close up for seven furlongs, then began to drop back. JULIANA showed some promise on the backstretch, but lacked much finishing strength. SEA SWEET and ALIEGEE were outpaced. SCRAP IRON had some early speed. Overweight— Aliegee, 1 pound. NOWLOGGIN responded to urging on the backstretch to dash up to the leaders on the far turn and, drawing out nearing the stretch turn, was not in danger in the final run. SMART EVE began slowly* but saved ground where possible and finished strongly on the inside. ATOMIC ENERGY was in rather tight quarters rfearing the second turn, then reached a forward position, but was weakening at the finish. GREY SCOUT went wide in the stretch. DASHA had speed for five furlongs. CHICKS DELIGHT quit badly. JUMPY JOHN was crowded back at the start. BILLS PAL raced to the outside fence on the second turn. FUTURESQUE had speed from the start and slipping through on the inside of OPENING DAY nearing the far turn, drew out slightly approaching the stretch bend and held a fairly good advantage thereafter. THUNDERJET was taken back to permit OPENING DAY to make the pace and responded fairly well when called upon, but was unable to get up. BODENS PAL was slow to get in stride and was badly outrun for half the distance, then made up ground on the outside. OPENING DAY was used up racing with FUTURESQUE and weakened in the stretch. ROSE BED was in rather tight quarters on the inside of BALLYDAM on the first turn and failed to threaten thereafter. RICHAVOO came steadily through the stretch and was pressing for second place. FALSE was never far removed from the pace while being nicely rated and coming strongly through the stretch, caught ILLUSTRATE in the final twenty yards to win in a drive. ILLUSTRATE was close to PHANTOM SEA while the latter was making the pace and proved slightly better than the latter when it came to an issue. LUCKY CODINE was outrun early but came fast near the end and would have been second in a few more strides. PHANTOM SEA held on fairly well after making the pace. WHIZ-A-BIT, restrained early, made a bold move on the outside after leaving the backstretch to catch BOSS JACK when straightened out for home and held him to the finish. BOSS JACK displayed a good turn of speed in making the pace and raced well after being headed. HERES ED was always within striking distance, but was unable to threaten the first two. ARAB MISS was always fairly well up. GAIL R. finished gamely. MELLOTUNE was forced to take up when in close quarters right after the start. GOING PLACES turned in a rather weak effort. FRANK MUNNS was slow to begin but worked his way up steadily to reach a prominent place after going a half and easily overtaking GOLDEN THORN when ready drew away when subjected to punishment in the final sixteenth. GOLDEN THORN was in rather tight quarters after oging three-eighths, then came to the outside to wear down LEAPOLINO and take command, but was not good enough for the winner. DOUBLE WHORL made a strong run nearing the stretch turn but hung in the final drive. DONNA L. raced evenly in the early part then tired. LEAPOLINO showed good speed for six furlongs.
