ROBERT, forwardly placed from the start, raced by AMAFOX after leaving the backstretch, drew clear without urging and won with speed in reserve. AMAFOX began fast, gave way to the top one after going a quarter, but held on willingly to best the others. CHARLEY C. was roughed leaving the upper turn, made a mild bid entering the stretch, but could not seriously threaten the leaders. GUSHING OIL lacked early speed and raced wide. EASY DIXIE, a sharp factor from the beginning, went to the front when settled in the stretch, held on gamely under punishment and lasted to withstand FREE ME. The latter began fast, made the pace to the stretch, then gave way to the top one, but came again when hard ridden during the final furlong to finish well in a good effort. LUCILE T. raced slightly wide to the stretch, but closed willingly under urging. MOON BABY lacked early speed and could not better his position when set down for the drive. ETERNAL SON began sluggishly, but moved up fast during the initial quarter, disposed of KINGS HOPE during the stretch run and retained his advantage while under strong handling. KINGS HOPE went to the front at once, made the pace to the stretch, then was unable to withstand the top one. PROP, in hand to the upper turn, was sent to the outside for the drive and closed willingly, but could not overtake the leaders. BLUE KAY tired atfer showing early speed. ROYAL TULIP raced in four bandages, lacked early foot and was never dangerous. RAY COUNT MISS began alertly, but dropped back soon after the start. COUNT TURF, away well and kept in a forward position from the beginning, raced by REPETOIRE entering the stretch, responded to brisk urging and won going away. ROYAL MUSTANG, never far back, saved ground until reaching the stretch, was forced a bit wide on the turn, then came again under strong handling, but could not get to the winner. RUHE lacked early speed, but steadily improved position after the opening half, was sent around hones entering the stretch and could not overtake ROYAL MUSTANG. PHIL D. was hustled to the front early, engaged HALL OF FAME for three-quarters, then weakened. FANFARE, in hand uniil reachinng the last three-eighths, was moving up strongly during the stretch run when crowded, came again, but could not threaten the leaders. BATTLE MORN, reserved to the half, was hustled along thereafter, but could not reach serious contention and had no excuse. ANYOLDTIME, on the inside throughout, raced evenly. PUR SANG was never dangerous. HALL OF FAME gave way after racing well to the stretch. TIMELY REWARD began slowly and could not secure a good position. COUNTERPOINT tired badly after racing prominently to the upper turn. REPETOIRE was on the outside for the god line break, moved up fast and tired badly after racing prominently to the mile. KING CLOVER had no mishap. SONIC was through after a half mile. FIGHTING BACK showed nothing. BIG STRETCH was far back throughout. MAMELUKE quit badly after showing brief speed and pulled up sore.
