VALUTA, a forward factor on the inside, was steadied momentarily at the four and one-half narisef, then came out slightly in the drive and, under prolonged urging, caught tiring horses at the end. CASEIN, strongly rated next to the pace, opened a clear lead while still in hand, then faltered suddenly when put to pressure. BASES LOADED was under intermittent urging gradually improving position, then closed fast in the stretch run. HARD TRY was a keen factor under urcing and weakened. MR. HAPPY raced on the outside in an even effort. BRAGGADOCIO was outrun. FICKLEROSE saved ground, but lacked a closing rally. MIDCHANNEL set the pace for six furlongs and quit. ROMANCER tired badly. LEVITY was hustled along in closest attendance to the pace, easily put away ARAS BOY in the drive and held the others safe. KIST was a forward factor under alert handling, was guided wide for the stretch run and finished willingly. BUDDIE SWEEP, taken up wl.ile in close quarters after the start, saved grcund for the drive and finished fast. ON GUARD was unable to reach serious contention and tired uroer mild urging. ATOMIC MAID raced evenly. ARAS BOY had gocd speed under pressure, but quit after a half mile. ICY ETHEL had a rouqh trip LUCKY BELLE, slinhily crowded early, quit. KING OKAPI was under strong urging throughout and closed well to best the others. PUCKETEER saved ground and finished qamely under strong handling. ZIPPER weakened. CURTAIN TIME, much the best, quickly recovered after stumbling leaving the gate and immediately went to tlie front, drew clear when shaken up on the far turn and was in hand coming to the finish. PUFF began alertly and made a mild bid on the far turn, then could not stay with the v.irmer, but easily bested COPETE. The latter was under occasional urging and finished well. WINGY attempted to bear out on the turns and weakened. SAILORS CHOICE faltered. SPIDER ROCK was outdistanced early. Scratched— 274?? Hankie. 122. Curtain Time claimed by D. G. Neuman. Start good from stall gate. Won ridden out; second and third drivinq. ENERGETIC was steadied while moving up behind EAGLE EYE and AGRARIAN-U nearing the far turn, was urged and brought to the outside when AGRARIAN-U faltered and then disposed of EAGLE EYE to win going away. EAGLE EYE was rushed to the pace and outsprinted AGRARIAN-U after a quarter mile, then could not withstand the winner. BLAZING drifted out on the turns and then lacked a menacing rally. LUCKY HARP raced evenly. AGRARIAN-U quit when unable to stay with EAGLE EYE early. DINNER HOUR was outrun, then was ridden out to almost seven furlongs when forced to pull up to avoid hafces. DR. VIGOROUS, unable to keep up early despite steady pressure, was taken to the inside while improving position on the turns, came to the extreme outside for the stretch run, then rushed past the tiring leaders under excellent handling and was up while drifting in to best ADMIRAL DRAKE. The latter was intermittently urged while closest to the pace, continued determinedly in the late stages to reach the front a few yards out and just missed. KINSMAN, slow to settle into stride, saved ground while rallying strongly in the stretch and was coming fast at the end. PLAY TOY set the pace under rating, appeared safely in front coming to the final sixteenth, but suddenly flattened out badly SULEIMAN was hard pressed while showing speed and weakened. FERD, a forward factor under alert handling, was brought to the outside at the half mile and quickly wrested command from WHIFFENPOOF, then drifted slightly wide under punishment in the stretch drive and was evenly holding his own at the finish. WHIFFENPOOF bore out toward PASSEMSON and ISTAN on the first turn, disposed of these early, but could not stave off the winner at the far turn, remained closest to the pace and, while being carried out in the drive, finished gamely under extreme pressure. RISK A WHIRL steadily moved into closer contention after being brought to the outside early, loomed boldly on the stretch turn, but was forced slightly wide and hung. SUN BAHRAM lacked early speed, as usual, then saved all possible ground and closed fast in the drive. POST CARD was under pressure and moving to the pace when blocked on the inside at the far turn, then weakened gradually ENNOBLED never was a contender. HALTER showed nothing. PASSEMSON and ISTAN quit. SQUARED AWAY WENT TO HIS KNEES IN THE GATE, BROKE OFF AND RAN AWAY FOR A MILE AND WAS ORDERED WITHDRAWN BY THE STEWARDS. ALL WAGERS ON HIM WERE REFUNDED.
