Phils Sell Whitman to Saints PHILADELPHIA, Pa., June 8 UP .—The Philadelphia Phillies today sold reserve outfilder Dick Whitman to St. Paul of the American Association to make room lor utility player Tom Brown who was purchased yesterday from the Brooklyn Dodgers. Whitman, who rejoins a Dodger farm club, came to the Phils from the Brooklyn team at the waiver last year. He was used mainly in a pinch hitting role and compiled a .250 batting average.
