CONSUS raced NINE GEES into defeat soon after the first three furlongs and drew clear to be an easy winner. G. R. PETERSEN broke tardily when his rider fell back on him at the start, worked his way into contention nicely and lugged in while rallying through the stretch, bothering BAGGAGE BOY. He was disqualified and placed last. NINE GEES saved ground while holding a narrow advantage for three furlongs, then gave way. BAGGAGE BOY could not keep up early and was bumped during the stretch run by G. R. PETERSEN. EMERALD could not keep up. AMBROSE faltered badly after duelling for the lead. WINTER LAND was outrun. BURNING RAY saved ground to reach contention, was shuffled back while lacking room on the inside of KEYHOLE leaving the backstretch and, after being steadied briefly, responded to urging to drive through and draw clear. KEYHOLE moved over to the inside while assuming command early, set the pace under rating, but was no match. KING WATCH reached the leader from the outside entering the stretch and faltered. THERMION broke badly and turned in a good effort. ISLE OF PEACE was forced to race wide and showed little. JESS LINTHICUM, taken under strong restraint after outsprinting the opposition along the backstretch, drew clear when hustled mildly on the turn and continued to increase his advantage while going easily. CHAINS, far back while trailing early, closed willingly to outfinish MILLDALE. The latter was steadied while in behind JESS LINTHICUM along the backstretch and failed to seriously menace that one.
