Weir Enjoys First Winner DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 8. — John Weir, an apprentice rider under contract to Jim Arthur, enjoyed the thrill of riding his initial winner when .Bases Loaded won the seventh race here yesterday. Weir, a 17-year-old Baltimore, Md., youngster, has been galloping horses for about three years and has been affiliated with Arthur for approximately 15 months, accepting his first mount last August. Arthur makes no secret of that fact that he keeps Weir busy galloping horses, opining that this is the best method for bringing out the true capabilities of a beginner. Weir is capable of doing 104 pounds.
