I I Horace C. Rumage, Veteran Texas Turfman, Succumbs KILGORE, Texas, May 21.— Horace C. Rumage, one of Texas best known developers of thoroughbreds, died Monday. He made his home here for the past few years after virtually retiring from breeding and racing horses. Rumage, one of the first Americans to race in Mexico at the Hippodrome de las Americas, where his charges won several stakes in the early sessions, spent most of his lifetime in the vicinity of Fort Worth, Arlington and Hurst, and his last stud farm was the Rumage Stud, on the Randol Mill Road, between Arlington and Hurst. Rumage raced a pretentious string of horses at all Texas tracks during the heyday of racing in the Lone Star state, and : was just as well known in the Midwest, Far West and East as in his native Texas. At one time he trained for J. O. Hart, of Hurst. , Surviving are his wife, who remains at i Kilgore, three daughters, including Mrs. S. , i G. Casey of Fort Worth, a son and 10 grandchildren. Interment was in Mount Olivet, Fort Worth, yesterday.
