— • Sir Mango, Pomace Each Assigned 123 Former Gives Rival Two Pounds on Weight Scale For La Salle on Saturday LINCOLN FIELDS, Crete, 111., May 25.— Lawrence C. Bogenschutz, racing secretary and handicapper at Lincoln Fields, today assigned weights to the 26 nominees for next Saturdays three-quarter-mile La Salle Handicap, which carries 5,000 in added money. In making the allotments Bogenschutz placed 123 pounds on Hasty House Farms five-year-old Pomace and Harry N. Eads four-year-old Sir Mango, winners of their respective divisions of the Crete Handicap on opening day of this homecoming meeting last Thursday. They are the top weights on the La Salle list. Taking the scale of weights into consideration, Sir Mango gives Pomace two pounds, which, Bogenschutz believes, just about represents the difference in the winning performances of the two good sprinters last week. Furthermore, Mrs. H. J. Damms sterling filly, Arab Actress, a four-year-old with 118 pounds and her sex allowance, is level with Sir Mango. Arab Actress came back to the races this year with the same brilliance which | sparked her performances last season. She won her first and only start this year at Churchill Downs on April 28, beating Ever Bright, Mimi Mine and others at six furlongs. Arab Actress breezed three-quarters in 1:15 Mi over the local track this morning. Ruhe Held at 116 Hasty House Farms six-year-old Ruhe, with 116 pounds, is third on the list of those weighted for the La Salle. This fellow came from far back and closed with a tremendous rush to finish second to Mrs. Herbert Herffs filly, Mimi Mine, in yesterdays Homewood Purse here at Lincoln Fields. Besides Arab Actress, several, other candidates for the La Salle were on the track during training hours today. Vagabond King went three-quarters, handily, in 1 : 15. Sun David breezed the same distance in 1:18. Tuosix, only three-year-old among the nominees, breezed three-eighths in :37.
