Plans Well Developed For Opening at Quebec First of Two Meets at The Hull -Will Run From June 19 to July 5 TORONTO, Ontario, May 25. — T. P. Gorman, president of Connaught Park Jockey Club, announced from Ottawa today that plans are well developed for the opening of two 14-day meetings. at the Hull, Quebec course. Saturday, June 19, is the date set for the opening of the thoroughbred racing season at the plant just five miles from the center of Ottawa, Canadas capital, where racing was inaugurated in 1913. Approval of both the Federal Department of Agriculture and the Province of Quebec have been given the proposed meetings, and through the co-operation of Montreal racing interests, Gorman was able to obtain dates earlier than those customarily approved. Upon the acceptance by the Horsemens Benevolent and Protective Association, expected from K. R. Darbyshire, Canadian president, arrangements will be sealed. The first portion of the two meetings, opening on June 19, will include the holidays of St. Jean Baptiste and Dominion Day, in addition to its Saturdays. Post time will be 5 p. m. on week days and 3:30 p. m. on Saturdays arid holidays. Monday, July 5, will close the first schedule. Civic holiday and another three Saturdays will be included in the second section _ -Iii %*2iJk of the meeting which gets under way on July 17 and takes in each racing day until Monday, August 2. Gorman reports the track to be in "first class condition," with the early arrivals, who anticipated the announcement, stabled on the grounds and working over the track. Ontario horsemen are expected to ship 200 head to Connaugh Park and meet with the Quebec hopefuls numbering another 100. Local horsemen may contact Tom "Nipper" Rowe, long-time starter for the track, at his hobe, 245 Woodbine Ave., for information concerning stabling and shipment for Con-naught.
