HEART BREAK, moving into command in the first eighth and kept in the better footing, responded gamely when shaken up and outlasted ROME VENNIE. The latter, badly outrun early, improved his position readily in the last half mile and, coming through on the inside of the winner, was fast, wearing down HEART BREAK. SEEMEGO was hard ridden throughout. ARROWSWIFT and ARCHVVOOD raced under strong pressure all the way. MEANY was outrun. LADY WORTHMORE showed early speed. " CHILIAD, showing the most speed, took a short early lead and, withstanding repeated chaiicnges from ALCODEMA, withstood MAYCO under strong pressure. The latter, slow to settle in his best stride, gained steadily on the outside and finished strongly. ALCODEMA, placed to punishment when straightened out in the main stretch, tired gradually in the closing eighth. HOOLIGAN was unable to better his position. SCOTCH PLAID tired in the last three-eighths. ALL SATIN was outrun. ASHPORT was not persevered with. LADY JUSTICE labored in the going. Scratched 85330 Charles J., 112. GRANITE ROCK, rated close to MYTHICAL LORE, displaced the latter without effort midway of the final turn and was well rated in the stretch. BY THE SEA began slowly, moved into contention on the inside on the first turn, responded gamely near the end and outlasted GAY PARISIAN. The latter, given a breathing spell leaving the back stretch, went around the others thereafter and closed gamely. MYTHICAL LORE was done after being overtaken. Won driving; second and third the same. j GALAHAD, away well and allowed to settle in his best stride, improved his position midway of the back stretch and, going around the others, wore down MAJOR GENERAL and was slowly drawing clear. MAJOR GENERAL, closest to ZION in the early stages, took command momentarily entering the stretch, but was not good enough. BUSHMAN, racing in his best form, closed gamely. HURAWAY was making up ground near the end. ZION showed, much speed, but tired. AIR KING and the others had no mishaps. The latter, placed in a contending position, went to the outside for the final drive and was gradually wearing down the winner. SWAGGER STICK, fated in front, held on gamely. FAIR BILL closed a big gap. PREDICT was pinched back going to the first turn and was far back most of the way. POPCORN was outrun. UPSET LAD tired, as did LAMPOON. POETS DREAM showed good form. BYLONA was well placed, but tired when urged. PROTEUS quit badly.
