! FORT ERIE TURF NOTES J i : » George Alexandra, trainer of the J. E. Smallman stable, reported that Depression came out of the final race at Fort Erie on Friday in lame condition. Armstrong, scheduled to perform for H. W. Sage in the third race Saturday, was excused from his engagement. It was discov» ered that the colt grabbed himself while being breezed, and the filling in his legs failed to improve with treatment. Feudal Lord, the good sprinter in the J. E. Smallman stable, picked up a nail while being galloped and, according to trainer G. Alexandra, will be out of training for a considerable time. Horsemen who contemplate racing at Stamford Park and who desire to remaiA in their quarters at Fort Erie, have been given permission by the Niagara Racing Association to retain their stalls. Van service will be provided for those which are scheduled to race at Stamford Park. For the convenience of horsemen who will remain with their stables at Fort Erie during the Stamford Park meeting, a clerk will be available at the secretarys office at the Fort Erie course to accept entries. Condition books embracing the seven-day meeting to be staged by the Belleville Driving and Athletic Association at Stamford Park were distributed among the horsemen. John P. Turner, who framed the conditions for the various events, promises large and well-balanced fields. Program books for the second and final summer meeting to be staged by the Hamilton Jockey Club beginning August 4 made their appearance at Fort Erie on Saturday* Purses range from 00 to ,200 and races have been listed to suit the lowly plater, aa well as the higher grade performers.
