Astaire Joins Owner Ranks AQUEDUCT, L. I., N. Y., June 29. A new owner has entered the ranks of thoroughbred enthusiasts. Trainer Clyde Phillips reports that the noted film and stage dancing star, Fred Astaire, has purchased P. A. B. Widener Jr.s promising juvenile, Triplicate, and Phillips is in, the market for a few more likely youngsters. Astaire has long been a turf fan and some years ago owned a steeplechaser, but this will be the first time he will be represented on the flat.
