Y., May 3 UP.— Jake LaMotta will defend his middleweight title for the first time on June 14, at Yankee Stadium against an opponent to be named in two weeks, the International Boxing Club announced today. Laurent Dauthuille of France, who scored a seven-round technical knockout over Steve Belloise of New York Monday night, apparently has the inside track for the title shot, but the IBC said that welterweight champion Ray Robinson, Rocky Graziano, Tiberio Mltri, Dave Sands, Tony Janiro and the winner of the May 14 bout between Paddy Young and Charley Fusari, also will be considered as possible challengers. Matchmaker Al Weill of the IBC revealed that he is negotiating with both Robinson and Dauthuille and his final decision will be announced May 15. LaMotta, the broad-shouldered "Bronx Bull," is said to prefer Dauthuille as his June opponent. The 29-year-old LaMotta, who took the title from the late Marcel Cerdan in Detroit on last June 16, via a 10-round knockout, has experienced rough going since inheriting the world championship. He dropped a 10 round non-title decision to Frenchman Robert Villemain at Madison Square Garden last December . 16 and and looked so bad doing it that the National Boxing Association and the New York Commission allowed him to delay his first defense until June. In attempting to round into shape, he has knocked out Dick Wagner and Chuck Hunter and is scheduled for two more tune-up bouts before putting his crown on the line. The Robinson faction, meanwhile,- is doing everything possible to force LaMotta to meet Sugar Ray for the title. Robinson and LaMotta have met five times previously, Robinson winning four times and LaMotta once. Dauthuille scored a 10-round decision over LaMotta on February 21, 1949. PADDY YOUNG— Will meet Charley Fusari on May 14 and the winner of that bout will be considered as possible challenger for LaMotta.
