SHERRY wrested command in the early stretch after being rushed up from the last position, was kept to intermittent pressure and held sway. LEGAL HOLIDAY saved ground to assume the lead on the turn, then failed to resist the winner. NO CHANCE, away tardily and shut off early, closed with good energy when settled into stride. BURNING RAY raced evenly. VALDOR lacked a menacing rally. FRANKTOWN showed good speed, but drifted extremely wide from the quarter pole. MARY ANN displaced DOLLYS IMAGE early, was headed briefly in the late stretch by BROWN FOX, then outfinished that one. BROWN FOX, always forwardly placed and not rushed, had no excuse, but came back a trifle lame. VIM loomed a threat in the early stretch, but lacked a closing rally. DOLLYS IMAGE held a slight lead to midway of the backstretch, then faltered.* SWING TUNE showed nothing. SUNNY SOUTH had no excuse. PETROBOY and BABY BILLY were outrun throughout. The latter wrested command and drew clear in the early stretch, then was unable to retain her advantage in the final test. KING POMP, outrun to the • stretch, closed with good energy. THE RHODESIAN failed to seriously threaten. TACARO set the pace while under restraint, but failed to respond when roused. ORTHOPEDIC held a forward position to the stretch and faltered after being bumped twice by RUN ROSY RUN. MONGOOSE had brief speed. FLOCO raced forwardly from the outset, moved well when roused, assumed command on the turn and was kept to pressure while holding HANDY MAN safe. The latter improved his position from the outside, but could not wear down the top one. CAPE COD, JR. trailed early and closed fastest of all. INDUS was well placed without being hurried early, then faltered under pressure. THIN DIME could not keep up. BAT GIRL was fractious at the gate and caused the delay. ARCH BOY flattened out badly. DOUBLE BRANDY was allowed to race : on his own courage during the early running, circled the entire field while rallying and was under extreme pressure to be up in the final stride. MIDIANITE held a clear advantage rounding the clubhouse turn and well . into the backstretch, was steadied and dropped back when challenged, again moved boldly to wrest command entering the stretch and just missed. CHILOE II. was always a threat and weakened only slightly. BUTLER ■ tired in the final furlong. MAGNA CHARTA was in his preferred position along the inside, but ran into close quarters in midstretch. The latter was rated off the leaders, responded well, but was not good enough. BIG ELM could not get within striking distance of the top pair during1 the ifnal test. TRIFLIN NEIBOR raced with the pace for more than a half mile and weakened. CAPE HATTERAS showed nothing. WEE CLOOTIE turned in a dull effort.
