| BELMONT PARK NOTES f i_ — # NEW YORK, N. Y., June 1. G. W. Carroll claimed Grey Hawk from W. C. Smith out of the final race Tuesday for ?4,000. Application for licenses were filed today by jockey T. Pascuma and trainers J. Mooney and T. Wilson. Fred Ponton, who rode J. Donohues Dublin to victory in the first running of the Withers at Jerome Park in 1874, witnessed Thursdays race. He paid his first visit to the track in thirty years, coming over from his home in New Jersey, and was kept busy renewing old acquaintances. Milo Shields arrived Thursday with the Penthorn Ktable. numbering six head. Xewton Bennington, veteran owner, was among the sp ctators Thursday. Mrs. Louise Viau has commissioned Sandy McXaughton to leave for Europe after the Saratoga meeting to purchase racing material. Mrs. McXaughton will accompany him on the trip and meet Mrs. Viau in London. Jockey C. Kurtsinger left for Ottawa to ride for F. J. Kearns, to whom the boy has been loaned by the Ziegler Stable for two weeks. Jockey E. Barnes was suspended for three days for rough riding in the fourth race. Brice, the Brookmeade Stable steeplechaser, came out of the Cornithian Steeplechase badly lamed.
