VAN LU ELLA DEAD COLLINSVILLE. 111., June 1.— Van Lu Ella before going a quarter of a mile in the second race Wednesday was stricken with a hemorrhage, staggered and fell heavily and after a few spasmodic efforts to get on her feet died. Jockey Pendergast anticipated her going down and jumped out of the saddle, escaping injury.
