CLYDE VAN DUSEN ARRIVES • Kentucky Derby Winner Now Quartered at Arlington Park. ♦ To Be Trained for Engagement In 0,000 Classic— Mrs. Hertz and C. B. Shaffer Horses Reach Arlington. I ARLIXGTOX HEIGHTS. 111., June 25.— Herbert P. Gardners Clyde Van Dusen, winner of the Kentucky Derby, and a potential aspirant for American Classic honors, reached Arlington Park today from Latonia in the company of eleven other of the stables horses. The shipment came in charge of trainer Van Dusen, who reported that all of his charges, including his famous equine namesake, had shipped in splendid condition. Clyde Van Du-sens first stake engagement at Arlington Is in the Classic, which will be run July 13. In the meantime the Kentucky Derby winner will be started in one or two overnight handicaps to keep him on edge for his Classic engagement, which his trainer says will be his supreme effort as a three-year-old. Others in the stable to arrive were Gardner Derr, eligible to the American Xational Handicap, and the two-year-olds Henrietta Hardies and Prince Tokalon, nominees to the juvenile stakes. The stable of Mrs. John D. Hertz, that trainer John Baird has been campaigning on the Xew York tracks, reached Arlington today from Belmont Park. The stable embraced fourteen head, principally two-year-olds, many of which are the product of the Hertz Leona Farms. They include Lukes Crown, Guide Right, Naylor and Ostend. Among the stables three-year-olds are Xettie Stone, eligible to the Classic : Shepherdess, Protection and Vanish, all eligibles to various other stakes. The Coldstream Stable of C. B. Shaffer, In charge of the veteran Frank Taylor, was another recent arrival. The stable came from Latonia. Among the band were Xegodale, Mole Hill and Laundryman, all eligibles to the Classic ; Call Play, Eskimo and Cash Play, eligibles to other stakes, and Barbara, an intended starter in the Stars and Stripes Handicap. The stable is strong in two-year-olds, among the younger division being Plucky Play, Wildmint. Gentle Play, Wild Waters and Wild Denise. Silverdale, speedy three-year-old in the stable of Edward B. McLean, a starter in the Ohio State Derby, reached Arlington from Bainbridge Park in charge of the stables foreman. The colt arrived in splendid condition. He is an intended starter in the American Xational Handicap, the opening days big feature. The Three Ds Stock Farm horses intended for Chicago racing, which reached Arlington Park Monday, included Bachelors Prince, Dixie Dreamer, Water Lilly, Texas Queen, Panchio, Royal Ford, Double Heart, Prince Pat, Wartime, Zacaweista, La Paloma, Pagan God, Mixup and Indianapolis. Xifty Xightie and Thats It, which have been turned out at Churchill Downs, will rejoin the stable here. Others of the stable, including Broadway Limited, Kilcarie, Royal Pan, Pansy Walker, Peters Pet and Ruddy Sir, were shipped to Saratoga to await the racing there. Jockey Frank Coltiletti and the apprentice, V. Dunlap, came with the horses from Xew York and will do the riding for the stable. C. E. Durnell, who will resume training the horses, has taken quarters near the Arlington track.
