EMPIRE CITY BEGINS SOON Eastview Stakes and Derby Will Be Features of Meeting at Yonkers Track. EMPIRE CITY, June 25.— Stake and condition books for the twenty-one day meeting of the Empire City Racing Association, from July 5 to July 27, at its Hilltop track in Yonkers, are in the hands of horsemen. No change has been made in either the value or running order of the features for the summer season of the sport. Sixteen fixed events are listed. These have an aggregate added value of 1,000. The minimum purse for overnight contests is ,000. The most valuable races of the impending meeting are the Eastview Stakes and Empire City Derby. The Eastview is for two-year-olds, while the Derby is for entire colts and fillies. Each has an added value of ,000. They will be run on the second Saturday of the meeting, July 13. Double features mark each of the four Saturdays of the meeting. On July 6 the twin attractions will be the Whirl Stakes, for two-year-olds, and the Mt. Vernon Handicap, for three-year-olds and upward. The value of each offering is ,000. On July 20 the features will be the Sprightful, a ,000 claiming event for two-year-olds, and the Yonkers Handicap, ,000, for three-year-olds and upward. On July 27 the ,500 Wakefield Handicap, for two-year-olds, and the ,000 Mt. Kisco Stakes, for three-year-olds and upward, will be renewed.
