DECIDE TITLE AT WINDSOR? Special for Three-Year-Olds Is Under Consideration by the Devonshire Officials. WINDSOR. Ont., June 25. — There is a possibility that the Devonshire second meeting, dates for which are July 27 to August 3, will witness the running of one of the outstanding races of the 1929 season, a test to determine supremacy in the three-year-old division. The fact that the championship is still a very open question, after the deciding of several of *he premier American classics, has given birth to the idea of staging this special at Devonshire Park, the scene of the famous Devonshire International Stakes, in which Grey Lag defeated Black Servant. That was in 1921. On performances to date in the big three-year-old prizes, five different horses have more or less impressive claims on the title. Clyde Van Dusen won the Kentucky Derby ; Dr. Freeland the Preakness ; Klue Larkspur the Belmont and the Withers ; Karl Kitel the Fairmount Derby, and Windy City the American Derby. And yet a few others, not quite so successful as the above quintet, belong in the class of outstanding horses of the division, notably Xaishapur, second to Clyde Van L usen in the Kentucky Derby, to Windy City in the American Derby and Golden Prince in the Coffroth Tlandi ap. True, there is a possibility of all the top* notchers meeting in the Classic. Arlington Parks bright and particular feature, down for decision on July 13, but weights in this event will be assigned according to the money won. and any one of the leaders in this respect might find excuse in having to concede weight to the others in such an illustrious field. Should the Devonshire race become an actuality, it would be at Derby weight of 125 pounds, over a mile and a quarter distance, and would, if the field included all those with legitimate claim to the title, settle the matter definitely under such conditions.
