ROSE WINS WITH SIS AGNES Pilots Brown Hotel Stables Filly to Cleveland Victory Katharine V Outruns Tcralta In Stretch to Win Third Kacc Ilcdding Sus ¬ pended by Stewards CLEVELAND Ohio June 5 Securing an opening next to the inner rail turning for home the Brown Hotel Stables Sis Agnea triumphed in the Cleveland Purse the fourth and principal offering at Thistle Down Park this afternoon The Basil Manor Stables King Basil was second and Star Play se ¬ cured the minor award from Sun Blow BlowJockey Jockey M Rose was content to follow the pace of Sun Blow and Star Play to the stretch with Sis Agnes then took the lead but had her under a hard drive in the final sixteenth to stall off a determined challenge from King Basil The latter also avoided the early pace and made his move during the stretch drive Star Play was carried a trifle wide by Sun Blow on the turn for home but proved gamest of the pair during the final drive for third place placeIdeal Ideal conditions prevailed and the attend ¬ ance was up to the standard for a midweek day The finishes aroused much enthusiasm the majority of them being closely contested the various winners scoring by narrow mar ¬ gins ginsPeralta Peralta attempted to make a runaway af ¬ fair on the third but she was forced to give way to the finishing rush of Katharine AV in the last sixteenth Peralta was best of the others and Enthusiastic Edward out ¬ stayed Weenie for third after the latter had displayed good early speed speedFor For rough riding in the first race jockey J Redding was set down for six days by the stewards but will be permitted to ride in the Cleveland Derby Saturday SaturdayRacing Racing began with a contest for twoyear olds and resulted in a stirring struggle be ¬ tween Southern Cloud and Peggy J which raced closely lapped throughout In the final drive Peggy J proved the gamest and earned the verdict by a head Belgian Lass moved into third place after making the far turn which she easily held safe in the stretch The others were outpaced outpacedBefore Before the start could be effected for this race H G Bedwclls Fair Ment unseated his rider at the post Running riderless for a half mile he bolted through the outer fence and raced through the automobile enclosure adding additional excitement to the race After being caught he was returned to the post remounted and followed the others throughout throughoutA A limit field of twelve faced the barrier for the second race and it was productive of a thrilling stretch struggle At the turn for home One Cent Watch On Noble Charge and Birdie Wrack and Dr Charlie were rac ¬ ing in a compact bunch with One Cent slight ¬ ly in front In the final drive Birdie Wrack finished gamely on the outside and drew clear near the end Noble Charge outgamcd One Cent for second place Watch On finished fourth fourthFinishing Finishing with a welltimed rush on the outside in the stretch the Justa Farms Justa Pal scored another victory for the stable when she headed Not Guilty in the final strides of the fifth race It was a close finish and a popular victory as Justa Pal was the choice Not Guilty and Vicksburg raced closely lapped leading to the stretch head but Vicksburg tired in the stretch and had to be content with third thirdAnother Another popular choice Jack Hawksley was winner of the sixth race He came fast from third place on the outside in the stretch and headed Spanish Lay in the last few yards Nos Redna the early pacemaker saved third thirdFor For rough riding on Spanish Lay jockey M Dupuy was set down for six days daysAV AV A McKinney claimed Jack Hawksley for 1000
