SHASTA CHARMER took command approaching the turn for home, failed to withstand the winners challenge and was driving hard to save second place. THE KHAN closed a big gap and closed very fast in the stretch. PENARC moved up fast on the outside after rounding the far turn and finished gamely. NORIAS showed cood speed for three-quarters, then tired. GAY HALLIE came again in the stretch. ERIN GO BRAGH and PIUTE quit badlv. ASPIN LAKE raced forwardly throughout and shook off THISTLE DEE in the stretch. The latter, a factor to the stretch, tired steadily in the stretch and was doing his best at the end to save third place. ICARUS closed steadily in the last quarter. WIDELY KNOWN came again in the last eighth. ON TRIAL finished fairly well. SUNDAY CLOTHES quit. The others were outrun.
