Start bad out of machine. Won easily ; second and third driving. BARASHKOVA showed good speed trom the start, drew into a safe lead after going a quarter and, continuing trough, won well in hand. K. RUSSELL, fractious at the post, but away well, drew clear in the first throe sixteenths and could not menace the winner, but held on well. DIS DAT began slowly, moved up rapidlv with a loss of ground and tired in the final drive. GOLD TIP saved much ground. LOJO had no mishaps. ADSUM. PRINCE NEPTUNE and KILGORE began poorlv. BENEFIT unseated his rider at the start. NO MORE, never far back and taken under restraint after reaching the turn, worked his way into the lead with a rush when called upon in the stretch, but loafed badly when Cunningham ceased punishing him and, under severe pressure, reheaded VERY WELL and outstayed BAGGAGE MAID. The latter began fast, dropped back on the stretch turn, but closed gamely on the inside. VERY WELL showed speed from the start, saved ground and tired in the closing eighth. TIGER PRINCE began slowly and showed a good performance. ILIUM was outrun. SCAPEGOAT showed speed for five eighths, then quit badly. KENASHAW began slowlv and was always far back. LA COMPERE rushed into the lead, showed good speed while swerving slightly in the last eighth and withstood ANITA ORMONT. The latter began slowly and remained a good distance back in the first three-eighths, improved her position on the outside and, but for swerving badly when closing strongly, might have been closer up. I SAY, close up from the start, tired after challenging and just lasted to finish third. ELSIEN BRUCE closed with a rush on the inside. PORTMANTEAU, going in his best form and close up from the start, raced to the lead on the inside nearing the turn and, drawing into decisive command, won thereafter. CESARE improved his position gradually, lost ground at the turn and closed with good courage. FLYING CHEROKEE began sluggishly, saved ground at the stretch turn and closed courageously. DIXIE LAD, badly outrun for three quarters, closed with a rush. BILL LOONEY tired. WHILEAWAY weakened badly after going forwardly to the last eighth. ST. JIM was outrun. CHIP appeared to sulk. RIFF RAFF began slowly and moved up fast entering the stretch, but tired in the final stages. VANDAL lost ground on the first turn. HARAMZADA tired. WOODLOT, rank at the post, but away well, sulked badlv after half a mile and went very wide on the far turn.
