f HAMILTON, ONT., TURF NOTES f j $ HAMILTON, Ont., June 24. Jockey J. D. Mooney, who staged a comeback in the saddle following his training of the Maryvale Stable two years ago, has again forsaken the saddle and will in the future devote his time to training a public stable. Mooney has found his task too difficult for the good of his health in endeavoring to keep down to riding weight and it. was for that reason that he decided to turn to training. Close to eighty riders notified J. J. Far-rell, custodian of the jockeys quarters at Hamilton, that they would be available for the meeting. Trainer H. Giddings arrived from Montreal to take over the R. W. R. Cowie horses that were rested at Woodbine Park while he sojourned to Montreal for the Blue Bonnets meeting. The Mount Royal string, which were campaigned at that point, will remain in that vicinity. J. Whyte arrived from Montreal with fourteen performers. Seven are the absolute property of Willis Sharpe Kilmer, while five are owned jointly and two others belong to J. M. Mackenzie. Jockey C. Phillips will do the riding. Jockey E. Legere, who signed to ride for the Seagram Stable during the Maryland season, made his initial appearance in the silks of his employers on Canadian tracks when he rode Visionary Hour in the first race at Hamilton today. Legere was kept out of the saddle until this time when forced to serve a suspension inflicted upon him by the stewards of the Maryland Jockey Club at Pimlico. Jockey W. Curran, who met with good success on Canadian tracks last year, arrived from Aqueduct to join the stable that F. J. Kearns brought here for J. P. White. Ernie Hall, who officiates at several Maryland tracks and who races a small string of horses, reached Hamilton with two racers that he will campaign on major tracks until the opening of the fall term of racing in Maryland.
