PEABODY MEMORIAL FIELD Brilliant Band of Handicap Stars Expected to Start in Home woods 0,000 Added Race. HOMEWOOD, 111., June 24.— With a fast or good track for the renewal of the 0,000 added Francis S. Peabody Memorial Handicap, over one mile and a quarter, at Washington Park Saturday, the most brilliant field of handicap stars of the current Chicago season, and a contest rivaling any in the recent record of the sport in this section, is in prospect. Track conditions have so interrupted the training of Sun Beau that trainer Andy Schuttinger may not start him, but the field of certain starters of this time includes Gallant Knight, Mike Hall, Paul Bunyan, Lady Broadcast, Snowflake, The Nut, Tannery, Pigeon Hole, Satin Spar, Morpheus, Plucky Play and possibly others. Sun Beau is asked to carry top weight of 126 pounds, and, while conceding but three pounds to Gallant Knight, will give from eight to twelve pounds to others ready for the rich fixture. Mike Hall gets in under 118 pounds, while Paul Bunyan will carry 115 and Pigeon Hole, The Nut and Tannery 113 pounds each. From every angle the Peabody Memorial is one of the most attractive turf contests of the current western season, and under propitious weather and track conditions, is certain to lure to Washington Park a great throng. The Saturday program brings to a close a very successful season at the local track. Trainer Frank Rector gave L. M. Sever-sons Paul Bunyan, winner of the recent Dixie Handicap, and successful during the present Washington Park meeting, his final preparation for the Peabody Memorial Handicap when he sent the son of Paul Weidel one mile and a quarter over a heavy track in 2:20% this morning. The black five-year-old did the work very easily, and the time was extremely good for the deep, holding going he negotiated. The nrobable field for the Peabody Handicap follows: Horse. Wt. Jockey.
