HANDICAP ELIGIBLE WORK Jay Walker and Playtime in Limelight at Latonia — Milldale Course Deep in Mud. LATONIA, Ky., June 24.— Jay Walker, Hal Price Headleys Latonia Derby candidate, and Charles Bacharachs Independence and Enquirer Handicap eligible, Playtime, turned in the best works over the muddy track this morning. They were on the course at practically the same time and both were called on for mile gallops. Playtime worked with Disturb, a stablemate, while Jay Walker was unattended. Beginning from the three-quarters post and working back, Playtime ran the eight furlongs in 1:42%, handily, and Jay Walker, beginning from the stand, was timed the distance in 1:44, handily. Both had good weight up and ran at an even gait. Playtime ran the quarter in :25%, the half mile in :50% and the three-quarters in 1:16%. Jay Walker galloped the quarter in :24%, the half mile in :49% and the three-quarters in 1:16%. Laila Wild, Gorham Brothers Latonia Oaks candidate, breezed three-quarters in 1:18. She was accompanied by Joann Gorham and ran the three-eighths in :38 and the half mile in :51. Band Time, one of Charles T. Fishers reliances for the Cincinnati Trophy, breezed five-eighths in 1:03%. He was accompanied by Cee Tee, another eligible. Both colts showed a decided preference for the going and were timed the quarter in :24, the three-eighths in :36 and the half mile in :48%. Sam Fursts Castle Cliff, another Trophy candidate, breezed a half mile in :53, while Bauer and Hukilla Abe Furst breezed a half mile in :52%. The Southland Stables Old Jefferson and Bachelor Hal, Trophy candidates, went half miles in :51.
