I LATONIA TURF NOTES ! and ■ § LATONIA, Ky., June 24. Jockey V. Smith, who is under contract to Mrs. Payne Whitney, will be seen in colors during the coming meeting. The lad will be eligible July 1, the date he becomes 16 years of age. Jockey Gilbert Riley and Pat Gallager, agent for H. C. Hatch, motored from Chicago. Riley will ride Boys Howdy in the Derby, while Gallager will look after the horse pending the arrival of trainer Lloyd Gentry. A division of the John Marsch stable, in charge of Howard Stearns, is due from Chicago tomorrow. After a visit at their Louisville homes, Asa Harned, trainer of the Harned Brothers horses, and Lon Jones, who has four here, returned to Latonia this morning. Tommy Oliphant, well known docker, arrived from his home at Louisville.
