ZAIDEE worked her way up on the outside into a contending position, was on the outside of SCOTLAND on the turn for home and lost some ground, hung on grimly to punishment and finished with keen speed. HOGARTY broke with usual keen speed, saved ground on the final turn, but could not cope with the first two in the final test. FAIRDALE raced evenly and was a prominent factor throughout. Won easily; second and third the same. • AUTHORA, extremely fractious at the barrier and responsible for delaying the start, was taken under a steadying restraint while HOWEE and NORWALK were fighting for command, moved up fast on the outside of HOWEE on the final bend, drew away with little urging and finished strong. HOWEE was under energetic handling in the early part of the running in an effort to wrest control from NORWALK and was tiring in the last sixteenth. ROSEMARIE B. outstayed tiring horses in the final test. BUDGE raced evenly all through and finished steadily. NORWALK quit badly after being used up trying to get to the front. ARGIEN had no excuses. JONAH, shuffled back earlv. closed resolutely through the stretch to dispose of the others.
