GALLANT KNIGHTS FAST TRIAL HOMEWOOD, 111., June 24. — Gallant Knight, the Audley Stock Farms great son of Bright Knight, threw more than a scare into the camps of rival candidates for the 0,000 added Francis S. Peabody Memorial Handicap, to be run Saturday at Washington Park, when he worked one mile and an eighth over a slow course in the sensational time of 1:53% this afternoon. Trainer Kay Spence had the brilliant four-year-old on the track between the second and third races, and with Carl Meyer in the saddle he went the quarter in :25%, half mile in :49, three-quarters in 1:14% and the mile in 1:40%. The strong manner in which he covered the final half mile after going along leisurely during opening five-eighths was something unsurpassed by any of the greatest of the present season. He was enthusiastically applauded by the many who witnessed the brilliant trial.
