BENEVOLENT BODY MEETS Horsemens Organization in Monthly Gathering at Chicago Heights — McCoy Popular Jockey. HOMEWOOD, 111., June 24.— The monthly meeting of the Horsemens Benevolent Association was held at Chicago Heights Monday night and 100 members of the organization were in attendance. President Harry Morrissey was in the chair and his report on the progress made in the short time since its foundation, was the cause of much enthusiasm. The voting for the most popular jockey at Washington Park held by the organization as a movement to obtain additional funds, resulted in the election of jockey J. McCoy. The lad received 1,100 votes, while jockey J. Smith was second, with 600 votes. Charles F. Henry, assistant secretary of the Illinois Turf Association, was the unanimous choice for the post of secretary-treasurer of the recently formed charitable organization and Mr. Henry will officiate in that capacity gratis, as will all officers of the body.
