BOATSWAIN IN LATONIA DERBY LATONIA, Ky., May 25.— Boatswain, which was a bang-up third to Burgoo King and Tick On in the Preakness, is eligible for the Latonia Derby. The nomination of the son of Man o War and Baton was one of the first received by Russell Sweeney, resident manager of the Latonia Jockey Club for the 5,000 added gallop of a mile and a half, which will be decided during the thirty-one day meeting starting here Saturday, June 25. Manager Sweeney reports the receipt of liberal nominations for the Derby, as well as the six other stakes to be decided during the summer meeting. Other stakes to be decided and for which nominations close Wednesday, June 1, are the Clipsetta Stakes, at five and one-half furlongs, for two-year-old fillies; the Cincinnati Trophy, a dash at six furlongs, for two-year-old colts and geldings; the Latonia Oaks, the Quickstep Handicap, the Independence Handicap and the Enquirer Handicap.
