t WASHINGTON PARK NOTES | — § Webb Everett, who served as paddock and patrol judge during the Tanforan meeting, was an arrival. Roy Carruthers, general manager of Arlington Park, was a visitor at the track today. Basil Smith is making the engagements of jockey M. Lewis, leading apprentice of last seasons Chicago racing, while former jockey Nick Huff, who recently retired from the saddle, is making the engagements of the veteran Jimmy Smith. Horses which, because of their bad post behavior, have been barred by the stewards until further notice are: Nora D., Stanley Scott, Semester, Scimitar and The Dago. Jockey Johnny Maiben, who staged a comeback during the Tanforan meeting, got into action when he rode Sun Gros in the first race Wednesday. Jack Joyner, who will arrive shortly with his string, passed the word to Col. Matt Winn that all of the horses in his charge are in first class condition. He thinks that Evening will be the horse to beat in the American Derby. Stock Market, a starter in the second race Wednesday, changed hands after the running of that event. G. W. Ogle claimed him from J. W. Parrish for ,500. 1
