1 WASHINGTON PARK NOTES ] 4 ♦ Col. Matt Winn expressed himself as being pleased with the patronage and business at Washington Park so far this season. Although the amount wagered in the mutuel machines is about 15 percent below that of last season, the decrease of business was to be expected. The crowds for the first two days have been good, and the sport has been taken enthusiastically by the fans. Most of the boxes have been sold for American Derby day. W. Z. Martin shipped four from Churchill Downs. He had planned to ship back to Lexington to "lay up" for a few weeks, but the horses brought to Washington Park have been doing well and may make their presence felt. Boston Waters, which is to be fired, was sent to the Hinata Farms. Jockey J. Renick was an arrival and will ride free lance during the meeting.
