GREAT RACE ON SATURDAY Robert M. Sweitzer Handicap Certain to Furnish Spirited Contest at Washington Park. HOMEWOOD, 111., May 25.— The Robert M. Sweitzer Handicap, at one and one-eighth miles, will be Saturdays feature at Washington Park, and with Gallant Knight shipped to Belmont Park to run in the Suburban, it appears to be an open affair. At present Pittsburgher and Spanish Play, both of which have been working well, loom up as the probable favorites. Spanish Play in particular showed a fine performance in his workout on Tuesday, when he went the full Sweitzer distance in 1:53. He was never hard urged and went the half-mile in :49, six furlongs in 1:14% and the mile in 1:39%. Pittsburgher went ~ne and one-eighth miles in 1:55t5 on the same day. A total of ninety-one horses were nomin-nated for the Robert M. Sweitzer Handicap, when entries closed on March 2 and of the number, the following are among those that may be listed as likely starters: Polydorus, Uncommon Gold, Manta, Dr. Freeland, Burning Up, Street Singer, Spanish Play, Prince Atheling, Scimitar, Plucky Play, Gallant Sir, Pittsburgher, Canfli and Lady Broadcast.
