1 1 1 ; : LATONIA STAKES SCHEDULE Dates for Running: of Seven Feature Attractions at Covington Course. F LATONIA Ky., June 11.— Dates for the C seven stakes to be decided during the thirty-one-day spring meeting of the Latonia Jockey Club were set this morning. As previously arranged, the Clipsetta Stakes, for two-year-old fillies, at five and a half furlongs, will feature the opening day program Saturday, June 25. This contest drew 5 a nomination list of sixty-nine, one less than the number named for the Cincinnati Trophy, the three-quarters dash for two-year-old colts and geldings, which is down for decision Saturday. July 16. Each has ,000 added and included in the list of nominations are the best two-year-olds to show in western racing this spring. In High, the Bashford -j Manor winner, was named for the Trophy, while Hilena and Nituma, which finished first and second in the Debutante and Washington Park, are eligible to the Clipsetta. The Golden Jubilee Latonia Derby will be decided Saturday, July 2, and on the following Monday the Independence Handicap will have its twenty-second running. Included in the list of thirty-nine named for the Derby are Burgoo King, Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner; Boatswain, the winner of the Withers Stakes, and Faireno, which won the recent renewal of the Belmont Stakes. Gallant Knight, the Dixie Handicap winner; Pittsburgher, which has the Clark Handicap to his credit, and Spanish Play are among those eligible for the Independence Handicap, at one mile and an eighth. Like the other stakes and Oaks, it carries an I added value of ,000. The Quick Step Handicap is the feature for the third Saturday of the meeting, July 9, while the Enquirer Handicap follows the Trophy and will be decided July 23. The Latonia Oaks is the closing day attraction July 30. The Quick Step closed with thirty-nine nominations, the Independence with thirty-one, the Enquirer with thirty-five, and the Oaks with twenty-eight, the smallest of the seven.
