LATONIA, Ky., June 11.— With ideal training conditions prevailing at Latonia this morning, there were a great number of horses to be called on for exhibitions of speed. With no rain materializing, the track was soaked last night, and this morning it was at its best. Although there were several fast trials from among the plater division, the work of the Southland Stables Plpytime, which is eligible for the Quick Step and other stakes, came in for the most attention. The five-year-old son of My Play, which showed a return to his best form during the recent Churchill Downs meeting, was brought on the track by Johnny Daniels during the early hours. After a mile gallop, accompanied by My Hobby, the pair started tl.e trial at the three-quarters post and galloped over half a mile in :48%, to be under good restraint, and up to the five-eighths in 1:01%. Although Playtime was full of run, it was My Hobby that showed the way down the back stretch and the opening quarter was rattled off in :23, three-eighths in :35. The veteran Royal Julian demonstrated that he is returning to the form that enabled him to register many stake successes for W. H. Whitehouse when he breezed five-eighths in 1:06%. It was the second time the son of Royal II. and Julia L. has been called on for speed since he was returned to training after serving three mares in the stud this spring. R. W. Geisler had out Joe Schorrs Latonia Oaks candidate, Time to Fly, and the daughter of Flight of Time stepped five-eighths in 1:03%. Durb, a two-year-old that Tommy Murray is training for E. B. Applegate, breezed five-eighths in 1:02% and finished out three-quarters under restraint in 1:16%. The plater Honey Hunter went a handy mile in 1:41. Frank K. and Foxey Burt, a pair of juveniles from the Whitehouse barn, breezed five-eighths in 1:03%, and Active American and Proud Princess, two others from the same establishment, were timed five-eighths in 1:05%, breezing. Prior to their work, trainer Lon Johnson sent Whitehouses Ona-non and Millian half a mile in :50%. Lilac Bloom, which J. B. Respess made eligible for the Clipsetta, breezed a half in :53%. 9
