She was a full-sister to the two-year-old Ac- * tive American. Hal Price Headley will race his horses at , Latonia. The master of Beaumont Farm made stall reservations for fifteen horses, j Included in the shipment that will come here from Washington Park are the Latonia Derby candidates Indian Runner and Big , Beau and the Latonia Oaks candidate Village Vamp. , At the conclusion of the Bainbridge meeting, Olin Johnson will bring the James C. Ellis horses to Latonia. The guiding hand of the Dade Park race track has twelve J horses at the Ohio track in charge of Johnson. John Allgeyer arrived from Bainbridge , with the two-year-olds Sunny T. and Da-zetta. ■ The public address system which was used at Churchill Downs also arrived from the Louisville track, and it will be erected this week. It requires little time to arrange the system, for it was at Latonia that the c loud speakers were first installed on a Kentucky track. James Hukill asked for twelve stalls for -the horses of Furst and Matt Lair, which I he has at Bainbridge. After going a handy three-quarters in 1:18, Bidwill and Lewis Brush pulled up • very lame, and trainer Lewis doubts whether he will be able to get the old plater to the ■ post during the meeting. Two late nominations for the Clipsetta Stakes increased the list to seventy-one, : which is two more than the number named for the Cincinnati Trophy. In addition to the . Piatt fillies, the Clipsetta will engage such cracks as the Audley Farms Hilena, S. S. Combs Nituma, F. C. McAtees Billies Orphan, The Oakland Farms Wise Anne, Dixi- , anas Spartan Lady, Lonwin and Murphys Luck among others. E. R. Bradley was the most liberal nominator, the owner of the Idle Hour Farm I naming four fillies. Dixiana nominated three, the Greentree Stable three, and J. B. ] Respess nominated an equal number. The Clipsetta, like the Derby, had its first running in 1883 and is one of the oldest two-year-old races to be run in America. G. E. "Jay" Lewis reported that Bidwill and Lewis Wood Bell bucked while working Saturday morning and will be on the shelf for several weeks. Word was received from W. D. Covington that he was shipping Side Step and Judge Lueders here Monday. Judge Lueders was a winner during the Washington Park meeting. T. F. Devereaux is bringing five horses from Lexington Sunday morning. The shipment will include the sprinter Uncle Matt and four two-year-olds. Walter Taylor notified track superintendent Charles Nolte that he is bringing sixteen horses here for F. A. Carreaud and three for R. M. Eastman. They are expected to arrive June 20. William Hurley will have twenty-three horses in the division of the E. R. Bradley stable that he will campaign at Latonia. The shipment will be headed by Bar Hunter and will include Broad Meadows and Ballygran. The five horses R. L Baker vanned to Lexington at the conclusion of the Latonia meeting will be sent to Latonia the middle of the week. Baker has three 1 - rses at Washington Park and they will return here in time for the opening. F. Gering plans on shipping the horses he i has at Bainbridge to Latonia the last of next week. T. L. Pierce, who has a division of the i Shandon Farm Stable of R. J. and P. A. Nash at Bainbridge, notified track superintendent • Nolte that he is shipping twelve horses here the first of this week. Pierce l expects several additions from the Chicago i division of the stable, which J. J. Greely • has at Washington Park. Gerald Gleason, who can ride at 103 I i • l i • I pounds, has entered the employ of J. J. Troxler. Gleasons home is at Covington and he has been riding for three years. J. B. Respess plans on going to Washing- ton Park the first of the week and will remain until after the running of the Ameri- can Derby. Respess will be represented in the Chicago classic by Our Fancy, which finished third in the Ohio Derby.
