RESCIND IRISH TURF TAX From Ireland comes the news that Sean McEntee, minister of finance for Eamon de Valeras Fianna Fail Government Party, has given notice that his intended amusement tax on race course admission that was expected to yield a sum of 84,000 pounds to the national budget, with the permission of his party, announced in the Dail that it will not be imposed. If this tax had been put into effect it would have meant the cancellation of most of the Irish race meetings, wbich at the present, due to the economic crisis, are barely keeping their heads above water. Eventually it would have sounded the death-knell of Irish racing. A storm of protest that arose in the Irish racing world when the proposed tax was made known in Fianna Fails first budget stayed the hand of the young government. _
