James Speers, general manager of Prairie Thoroughbred Breeders and Racing Association, which operates tracks at Polo Park and Whittier Park in Winnipeg, was an arrival to superintend the shipping of horses to Polo Park, where racing gets under way next Saturday. Mr. Speers states that the " outlook in western Canada is bright and is particularly anxious to obtain horses of * handicap calibre. Bahamas, Scimitar, Mad Career and other well known handicap per- £ formers are to be shipped to Winnipeg and it is possible that several others will be J shipped from Washington Park. Accord- ing to Mr. Speers the two meetings held at i Calgary this spring were quite successful, i despite adverse weather conditions. i
