COLLINS LEADS AT NEW TRACK ♦ His Horses Win ,165 in 18-Day Meeting at Sportsmans Park. » Semester, Successful in Five Events, Is Most Consistent Racer — J. McLaren Best Winner Among Jockeys. ♦ Sportsmans Park, newest race track venture, distributed 05,300 in purses among the horsemen during its first eighteen-day meeting, and this circulation of money, additional to the disbursements of the mile tracks, was without a doubt a boon to many of the owners so fortunate as to share in it. The daily average distribution at the Cicero half-miler was ,850. George Collins, with a few campaigners of his useful stable, which have seen their best days, was the leading winner. He took down eight purses and scored three seconds and four thirds, his share grossing ,165. Some of his winners were Shasta Lad, Justina, Shark and Thistle Duke. Three others won in excess of ,000. F. E. Moore won seven races with Home Work, Stellanova, Nardo, Chattahoochee and others, his total reaching ,770. S. and G. Corbet won six races and ,440 with Martha D., Amsterdam, Port o Play, Valley and one or two others. P. N. Kyle was enriched through the success of Semester, which won five races, more than any other horse at the track. Semesters purses and second and third places amounted to ,090, and Kyle won one other race and shared in several other purses with Princella. Home Work won four races and ,750. The three-time winners were Diaquri, Pollys ; Folly, Parties and Howtiz. T. Moran trained the Collins horses and . therefore led the trainers by saddling eight winners. C. Troutt sent seven to the post . and S. Gorbet and B. B. Rice each saddled six. J. McLaren was the busiest rider at Sportsmans, and led the jockeys by a wide i margin. He had 109 mounts in the eighteen days, riding twenty-four firsts, fifteen seconds and seventeen thirds. G. Seabo rode l ten winners, ten seconds and eight thirds. M. Dupuy rode nine winners, fourteen seconds and eight thirds. L. Dye held a high i average of .27 per cent, by riding nine winners with only thirty-four mounts.
