WILLIAM T. EARNS PURSE Gaskey Racer First in the Cleveland Press Handicap at Bainbridge Park — Favorable Conditions. CLEVELAND, Ohio, June 11.— William T. carried the colors of W. E. Caskey, Jr. to victory in the ,500 Cleveland Press Handicap, the outstanding feature of the half-holiday program provided at Bainbridge Park this afternoon. Honey Locust, from the J. C. Ellis stable, was second and E. E. Majors Bill Orange finished third, slightly in advance of Hoops and Faylin. When the start came Hoops took command, followed by Faylin. Merrily On and Honey Locust were racing closely lapped and in closest pursuit, with William T. well in the rear. This order was maintained to the far turn. At this point Honey Locust began to move up on the leaders and William T. began to close up next to the inner rail. Faylin and Merrily On began to tire. Into the stretch Hoops still led by a narrow margin, with Honey Locust in second position. William T. had reached third place and, closing true and gamely on the outside during the final furlong, drew away into an easy lead in the closing stages. Honey Lo- . cust handily outlasted the others. Bill Or- ange came with a brilliant rush in the last sixteenth and beat the tiring Hoops a length for the third award. Most favorable conditions once more pre- i vailed for staging the sport. Ideal weather conditions prevailed, and the racing strip was in excellent condition. One of the largest crowds of the meeting witnessed the racing, which was decidedly interesting. » a
