AMATEUR RACE DECLARED OFF SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. T., Aug. 25. The Saratoga Association has been forced to declare off one of its programmed races for the amateur riders. These races were put on at the request of the amateurs and it is disappointing that, after having the opportunities afforded, a race failed to fill. The race that has been declared off is the Mohawk Valley Steeplechase that was to-have been a feature next Saturday. In the place of this amateurs riders race there has been substituted a chase over the short course and under selling conditions.
