UNCLE SAM BUYS GENERAL LEE LEXINGTON, Ky., Aug. 25. A. B. Hancock, Claiborne Stud, Paris, Ky., has sold to the United States Remount Service the eight-year-old stallion General Lee, by War Cloud Nancy Lee, by Broomstick. The horse had been shipped by Col. Thomas J. Johnston, officer in charge of the Lexington remount headquarters, to Richard Foster, member of the agricultural department of the Ohio State Fair, and he is to stand next season at Fosters farm near Croton, thirtyvmiles from Columbus. Colonel Johnson shipped four other stallions purchased here to the remount station at Front Royal, Va., from whence they will be distributed to other points. They are Swinburn and Outplay, purchased from Walter J. Salmon, Mereworth Stud; Pagan Pan, from J. O. Keene, Keeneland Stud, and Lord of Law, from C. B. Shaffer, Coldstream Stud.
