GALLANT SIR CONTESTANT Norman Churchs Good Three-Year-Old to Be Among Starters in Latonia Championship-. LATONIA, Ky., Oct. 18. Barring accident, Gallant Sir, Norman W. Churchs good three-year-old son of Sir Gallahad III. and Sunspot, will be here to contest the fourteenth Latonia Championship Stakes to be run at one and three-quarters miles on Saturday, November 5. This is the richest and most important of the fall fixtures for three-year-olds, and while Mr. Church, who races his horses under the nom de course of the Northway Stable, has yet to furnish a winner of the prize, his chances with Gallant Sir are considered as excellent. Gallant Sir will not be the only invading candidate moving West for the Latonia Championship within the next fortnight, as M. L. Schwartz Gusto, leading money winner of the year and claimant of the three-year-old crown, along with C. V. Whitneys Mad Frump, W. R. Coes Osculator, J. Fred Adams Rehoboth, and possibly one or two others will desert eastern racing grounds to contest this outstanding Latonia feature. Several western hopefuls, including Cathop and Cee Tee are being pointed for the race. Twenty-five thousand dollars is added to the Championship by the Latonia Jockey Club, and with ten starters the race will have a gross value of 2,055. Last fall it was won by St. Brideaux and other winners going back from 1930 were Spinach, The Nut, Sun Beau, Rolled Stocking, Display, King Nadi, Chilhowee, In Memoriam, Rock Minister, Sporting Blood, Cleopatra and Mad Hatter.
